Three Times Germany is a staged reading of monologues
exploring the rifts between East and West Germans fifteen years
after the fall of the Wall. From Ruegen (Baltic, East Germany)
to Berlin and to New York, director Uwe Mengel re-traces his own
life's journey in the memories and disconcerting prejudices of
the Germans who crossed his path. Company members performing in
this piece are Paul Bonin-Rodriguez, Kim Corbin, Monessa Esquivel
and Billy Munoz.
German-born Uwe Mengel was last in San Antonio for
the International theatre Festival in 1999. His interactive piece,
Ground Zero won Best Director and Breakthrough Award from
the ITF@SA. He has been creating interactive and cross-media projects
in East Germany, New York and Melbourne, among others. He was the
first German artist to produce a performance for the Whitney Museum
of American Art. He has created a number of radio plays for German
